Hello Word Nerds!!! Today's Word of the Day is: TWITTERPATED

My favorite reference to this word is from the movie Bambi. Friend Owl is sitting on a tree branch taking in the spring when Bambi and Flower stumble onto the scene and two birds are fluttering by and giggling:

Flower: [about two birds fluttering around] Well! What's the matter with them?
Thumper: Why are they acting that way?
Friend Owl: Why, don't you know? They're twitterpated.
Flower, Bambi, Thumper: Twitterpated?
Friend Owl: Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You're walking along, minding your own business. You're looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head's in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you're walking on air. And then you know what? You're knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!

Carm's: Word of the Day 10/10/09

 So just to be clear...this whole "Word of the day" idea is kind of...a "Jim Carreyesque" conquest for me...it's not so much here for the content of intelligent information (Think back to any of the Ace Ventura movies, or Dumb and Dumber...not so much there for much else than hijinks and good clean grotesque fun)...but more of a chance to use absurd, nonsensical words in your everyday conversation and see what happens to the faces and mood of the people who you converse with. Of course...the comment string from yesterday's VERY FIRST WORD OF THE DAY had me almost peeing my pants, so feel free to chat it up here as well...but don't forget to use it when talking to PEOPLE TOO! And most importantly spread it around the workplace and make it a contest if you want and report back here to let us all know how much fun you had.

Carm's: Word of the Day 10/09/09

Howdy my fellow PNNers:

I kinda have been kicking around this idea for awhile...so if it doesn't take off like wildfire, I promise to not be COMPLETELY devastated...

For the last couple weeks, when Facebook has allowed me to do so, I have been posting a "Word of the Day" in my status areas. While I haven't had a HUGE following, some of the comments that resulted have been a TOTAL crack up so my thought was to try it out here and see how it goes. Sally seemed to think it would be a good idea...and well...if SALLY thinks it's good, then that must mean she got some kind of sign from Buddha or The Universe or something...and WHO AM I TO CHALLENGE BUDDHA?!?!?!?!?! I'm Carm, that's who, and I ain't challenging ANYBODY that has a silent "H" in their name...you can just FORGET IT!

So this is the maiden voyage for the WORD OF THE DAY. My hopes are not only that you comment here with how you'd use it in a sentence, but to actually USE the words at least once and report back here with the impact it had to your real life conversations. And, yes...sometimes, the words will be saucy...but mostly I intend to keep it clean...for the most part...sort of...most of the time...aw hell who am I kidding...I can't promise anything.
